Rev. Samuel Flores was elected District Superintendent of the South Carolina District in July 2018. Previously, he served as Assistant District Superintendent for the South Texas District and as District Missionary, coordinating New Church Development and Multicultural Ministries. He held ministry and pastoral assignments at Austin First, Austin Grace, San Antonio Central, Houston Southwest, and San Antonio New Vision Community. With God’s help, Pastor Sam played a pivotal role in the development of 70 new churches in South Texas.
He has served as a Board of Trustees member for Southern Nazarene University and currently serves as a Trustee at Trevecca Nazarene University and Nazarene Bible College. In addition, Sam is a member of the denominational regional Multiply Collective, Director of Assessments for New Church Pastors, and has been a workshop presenter at denominational gatherings.
He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Government, Political Science and Pre-Law. He also earned a Master’s in Organizational Leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University.
Sam and Candy have been married for 38 years and enjoy time with their four daughters, three sons-in-law, and five grandchildren. They love family activities, travel, and sightseeing. Pastor Sam is committed to church and community transformation through the Holy Spirit, aiming to help people follow Jesus. His inspiration to love and serve others comes from Joshua 24:15: “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.”
